Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how [COMPANY / LEGAL ENTITY NAME] (“we”, “us”) handles information in the Frij mobile application (“Frij”, the “App”). We designed Frij to collect as little as possible: Frij has no user accounts and does not ask for your name, email, or payment card details.

Information we process

• Fridge/pantry photos. When you scan, your photo is sent to our backend and on to our AI provider solely to identify ingredients. We do not use your photos to build a profile of you, and they are not retained on our servers after processing. If you take a photo with the in-app camera, the App may also save that photo to your own device’s camera roll (with your permission).
• Ingredients and food preferences. Items you add, and any dietary preferences, dislikes, or household size you enter, are stored on your device and sent to our backend only to generate recipe suggestions.
• A random device identifier. The App generates a random ID stored in your device’s keychain and sends it with requests to help operate and protect the service (e.g. rate limiting). It is not linked to your identity and is not an advertising identifier.

What we do NOT collect

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, or payment card information. We do not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs. We do not track you across other apps or websites.

How your information is used

Only to provide the App’s features: detecting ingredients from a photo, generating recipe suggestions, displaying dish photos, and operating and securing the service. We do not sell your information.

Service providers

• OpenAI — processes your scan photos and ingredient text to return ingredients and recipes.
• Supabase — stores the generated (non-personal) dish photos used across the App.
• Vercel — hosts our backend.

These providers process data on our behalf to deliver the App. Review their respective privacy terms for details.

Payments

Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through in-app purchase. We never receive or store your payment card details. Apple’s handling of your purchase is governed by Apple’s privacy policy.

Data retention

Preferences and lists live on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App. Scan photos are used transiently for processing and are not retained on our servers afterward. Generated dish photos (not personal to you) are cached to serve all users.

Children

Frij is not directed to children under [AGE, e.g. 13]. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

You can remove your on-device data at any time by deleting items in the App or uninstalling it. You can revoke camera and photo permissions in your device Settings.

Changes
