Privacy Policy

• Fridge and pantry photos. When you scan, the photo is sent to our backend and on to our AI provider only to identify ingredients. It is not stored on our servers after processing and is never used to build a profile of you. If you take a photo with the in-app camera, the App can also save it to your own photo library, with your permission.
• Ingredients and preferences. Your pantry, saved recipes, dietary preferences, dislikes, favourite cuisines and household size are stored on your device. They are sent to our backend only to generate recipe suggestions.
• Voice input. If you speak your ingredients, speech is turned into text on your device by Apple’s speech recognition. The audio is not sent to us.
• Recipe links. If you paste a TikTok, Instagram or YouTube link, our backend fetches that post’s public caption and details to turn it into a recipe. We never access your social media accounts.
• A random device ID. The App creates a random ID, stored in your device’s keychain, and sends it with requests. It is not linked to your identity and is not an advertising identifier.
• Basic usage events. Our backend records simple events against that random ID: scans, recipe generations, recipes imported, meals marked as cooked, the paywall being shown, and a subscription starting or ending. We use these to run and improve Frij and to prevent abuse. They contain no photos, names or contact details.
• Invites and codes. If you invite a friend or enter an invite or creator code, we store the code and the random device IDs involved so that both sides get their rewards and a code can’t be reused.
• Clipboard. To spot a friend’s invite link, the App may ask iOS whether your clipboard contains a link, without reading it. The App reads the clipboard only when you tap to use the code.
• Reminders. Cooking reminders are scheduled on your device. We don’t send push notifications from our servers.

Frij+ includes an optional feature, Log meals to Apple Health, which is off until you turn it on in Profile and grant permission in the iOS Health sheet.

• What Frij writes: when you mark a meal as cooked, Frij saves one serving’s estimated calories, protein, carbohydrates, fiber and, when available, fat to Apple Health, labelled with the dish name.
• Frij never reads your Health data. It only asks for permission to write these nutrition types.
• Health data stays on your device and in Apple Health. We never send it to our servers, never share it with third parties, and never use it for advertising, marketing or data mining. We do not sell it.
• Estimates, not medical advice. The numbers are AI estimates for a typical serving, not measurements, and shouldn’t be relied on for medical decisions.
• You’re in control: turn logging off in Frij’s Profile at any time, revoke access in the Health app (Profile → Apps → Frij), and delete any entry from the Health app.

If you apply to our creator program on hellofrij.com, we collect what you type into the form: name, social handle, email address, platform, follower count and an optional note. We use it only to review your application and contact you about it.

In the App we do not collect your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts, or payment card details. We don’t use advertising or third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

Only to provide and improve Frij: identifying ingredients, generating recipes and dish photos, importing recipes from links, handling invites and rewards, running and securing the service, and understanding in aggregate how Frij is used. We do not sell your information.

• OpenAI: processes scan photos, ingredient lists and recipe text to return ingredients, recipes and dish photos.
• Supabase: stores generated dish photos (not personal to you), usage events, invite records and creator applications.
• Vercel: hosts our backend and website.
• Resend: may deliver creator applications to our inbox by email.

These providers process data only on our behalf to run Frij.

Frij+ subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through in-app purchase. We never see or store your payment details. Apple’s privacy policy covers your purchase.

Data on your device stays there until you delete it or uninstall Frij. Scan photos are processed and not kept. Usage events and invite records are kept while the service needs them and for up to 24 months. Creator applications are kept until the application is resolved, or deleted sooner on request. Generated dish photos aren’t personal and are cached for everyone.

Frij is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

You can delete your on-device data by removing it in the App or uninstalling. You can revoke camera, photo, microphone, speech, notification and Apple Health permissions at any time in iOS Settings. To ask us to delete server-side data, email us. Because Frij has no accounts, we can only find App records by your random device ID, so we’ll walk you through locating it. For a creator application, the email you applied with is enough.
